Release Calendar: May 13, 2024
Fantasy worlds, futuristic worlds, and whatever the heck Simogo is up to :)
LudoNarraCon is coming to an end tomorrow, and I hope you enjoyed all the games chats, and streams as much as I did. Here’s some cool stuff you can check out this week! (This isn’t a full list of releases.)
Fabledom - May 13
From Grenaa Games and published by Dear Villagers, Fabledom will be coming out of Early Access on Monday! If you’re looking for a cozy, laid-back city-builder, you’ll want to check this one out.
Athenian Rhapsody - May 14
This looks WILD. Here’s the description of the game on Steam (because I couldn’t do a better job than this):
Forge your own story and explore the world of Athens in Athenian Rhapsody, a souls-like platonic dating simulator with cooking-mama and WarioWare style battle mechanics... and by that I mean it's a choose-your-own-adventure action RPG with the ability to trade ENTIRE PLAYTHROUGHS between friends!!
Baladins - May 15
I wrote about Baladins as part of my coverage for LudoNarraCon this year:
Baladins is bright, colorful, fabulous, and definitely scratches a Paper Mario-type itch I didn’t know I had. You can play by yourself or with three others, but what really sold this one for me was the fact that I could choose my way in the game, and it felt like nothing was either good or evil.
(I got access to the full game thanks to LNC this year, so look forward to more coverage about this one!)
Read Only Memories: NEURODIVER - May 16
The sequel to 2015’s 2064: Read Only Memories unveils itself on Thursday, and it’ll have you return to Neo-San Francisco with a new story and a new cast of characters. However, the team at Midboss has teased that you’ll “reconnect with old favorites from the world of Read Only Memories.”
Realm of Ink - May 16 (Early Access)
Roguelites aren’t my favorite type of game, but I’m a sucker for any game with a unique style such as Realm of Ink. The comparisons to Hades are already there, but the focus on Chinese culture and mythology sets it apart from Supergiant’s hit. The demo is definitely on my list before Friday.
Lorelei and the Laser Eyes - May 16
Simogo is at it again, following up Sayonara Wild Hearts and their partnership with Annapurna Interactive with Lorelei and the Laser Eyes, also published by Annapurna. Nothing is certain, except for a game riddled with cool puzzles, riddles to solve, and a mystery to figure out. It’ll be coming out on PC and Switch, but regardless of where you play, have a notebook handy.
