Note: I’m working on the next entry in For Your Wishlist! Look for it this week, I hope!
Friends, I won’t blame you if you put this week’s recommendations on your wishlists for a rainy day, with The Final Shape coming on the 4th and Summer Game Fest starting in earnest on Friday. (Also, if you’re an Elder Scrolls Online player, you probably know the Gold Road DLC is out tomorrow!)
Long story short, the menu this week is a bit shorter than in the past. (We’ve only got one game.) I know I’ll be catching up on some games from my backlog, and some early-released Steam Next Fest demos. (Steam Next Fest starts on June 10!)
Fireside - June 4
I love, love, LOVE hand-drawn art, which drew me to Emergo Entertainment’s Fireside. It looks to certainly scratch that cozy itch, and tell a great story at the same time.
It’s about the journey, making friends, building a life, telling and listening to stories with your friends, and more. You’ll build a home and invite friends in a game that will never ask you to do harm, making it the perfect game to unwind with after a long day.
As of publishing, the demo is still available!
Rolling Hills: Make Sushi, Make Friends - June 4
Also scratching that cozy itch this week is Rolling Hills: Make Sushi, Make Friends from Catch & Release and published by Humble Games. (The little robot you play as makes me think of the floating robots from Owlchemy’s games, except you have a wheel.)
You are a sushi bot! One who wants to be the best sushi maker there is and make the people who made you proud. That quest brings you to Rolling Hills, where, as luck would have it, they need someone to run the town sushi shop! As you progress in the game, you’ll expand your offerings, get to know (and aid) the people of the town and the food they love and customize your shop to fit your vibe.
Rolling Hills looks to be compatible with Steam Deck and other similar devices.
