Play for Peace: Games for Palestine Charity Bundle Submissions Open
The itch.io Bundle is an initiative from 'Southeast Asian Games for Good'
A collective of Southeast Asian game developers and content creators have assembled the ‘Southeast Asian Games for Good’ initiative, and their first project is an upcoming bundle on itch.io.
Submissions for the Play For Peace: Games for Palestine bundle are open now and will be open until July 11th. Bundle organizer Jun Shen Chia, a Global Expansion Lead at Xbox, focusing on Southeast Asia, Taiwan, and Hong Kong, referenced ongoing world events as the catalyst for the bundle.
“For so long, I felt an immense helplessness at the tragedies in our world. Sitting on the sidelines is no longer an option, and the point of my privileges is to use it to help others. This is my answer, and I know many of you feel the same also. So let's do this together ✊” (Twitter/Bluesky)
The funds from the bundle will go to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA USA), which will grant them to UNRWA (UN).
The people of Palestine continue to be subjected to repeated hostilities, destruction of homes and livelihoods, critical infrastructure, and devastasting loss of lives. We, as a games community, will bring together our incredible games from across the world, for a charity bundle with proceeds that go directly to Palestine aid and relief.
We are partnering with UNRWA USA, who will receive the funds and grant them to UNRWA (UN agency) in support of direct humanitarian aid in Palestine. Together, the game dev community and UNRWA USA will raise awareness on the situation in Gaza, spotlight our communities, and the devs participating in this charity drive.
The group is looking for digital games, game assets, soundtracks, and art such as zines, short fiction, comics, and artbooks. Check out the links below if you’d like to participate or keep up with updates:
They aim to price the bundle at $8 when it goes live on July 17.
