Fishbowl Joins Wholesome Games Presents Lineup
The project is from a pair of first-time devs from India
Since announcing, Fishbowl was announced as a PlayStation India Hero Project game in 2024, picked up the Wings Award at SXSW Sydney, and was nominated for the Most Anticipated Game at the Gamemaker Awards that same year. In 2023, they were nominated for Colors of Indie and were runners-up for Upcoming Game of the Year at GDC India.
I discovered Fishbowl in March of last year, and I’m so glad I did. Alo’s story has lived in my head absolutely rent-free, and it’s been a delight to see Rhea and Prateek, the duo behind the game, get the flowers they (in my opinion) deserve.
This year, at the Summer Game Fest edition of the Wholesome Direct, Fishbowl was announced as the newest addition to Wholesome Games Presents, the publishing initiative of Wholesome Games. If you weren’t aware, they were also in that space; they’re not a traditional publisher, but instead, they focus on providing the skills and strengths the team has from their work in the industry. In their own words:
“We’re all about helping with marketing, influencer relations, biz dev, and using all the knowledge we've gained from our work in this space to help great games succeed, but we don’t usually fund games or handle stuff like QA or release management. This also means we take a smaller percentage of revenue compared to the average publisher.”
I wrote about Fishbowl last year, linking it below for your convenience:
For Your (Wishlist): Fishbowl
Fishbowl is a slice of life, coming of age story told over a month. Video call loved ones, work from home, sort through puzzles to rediscover childhood memories, do care tasks and get to know yourself better, one day at a time. (From Steam)
As a part of the Wholesome Games Presents roster, Fishbowl joins the ranks of Minami Lane, Is This Seat Taken?, MakeRoom, and Usagi Shima: Bunny Island.
There’s no release date for Fishbowl yet, but you can still play a demo on Steam and PlayStation 5.
